Monarchs Host South Dakota State in CBI Game Wednesday

The Monarchs (16-17) will host a College Basketball Invitational opening round game at 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 19, in the Ted Constant Convocation Center against South Dakota State University. ODU students will be admitted free with their ID. All tickets are general admission for $10.

The SDSU Jackrabbits (19-12/10-4) averaged 72.6 points per game and tied for second in the Summit League.

The Monarchs finished sixth in Conference USA and advanced to the tournament's second round. This will be ODU's second appearance in the CBI. The Monarchs played in the 2007-08 tournament, beating Rider 68-65 in overtime at the Constant Center, then losing at Virginia, 80-76, in the quarterfinals.

The winner of the ODU-SDSU game will play the winner of the Oregon State-Radford game on March 24. The tournament also features the following matchups: Wyoming-Texas A&M; Morehead State-Illinois State; Fresno State-UTEP; Princeton-Tulane; Hampton-Penn State; and Stony Brook-Siena.

The semifinals will be March 26 with the championship series (best out of three) scheduled to begin March 31.
