Lunafest, $tart $mart Programs Rescheduled
The ODU Women's Center celebrates Women's History Month with a variety of programs on campus for students, faculty and staff. This year's theme, "Celebrating Women of Character, Courage and Commitment," honors the extraordinary and often unrecognized determination and tenacity of women.
Two Women's History Month events that were postponed due to a university closing earlier this month, Lunafest and $tart $mart, have been rescheduled for dates in April.
Lunafest, an evening of short films made by and about women, will take place on Monday, April 7, in a new location: Room 1012 of the Batten Arts and Letters Building. (Any tickets previously purchased for the event will be honored). The evening begins with a reception at 6:30 p.m. (with free cake) and a raffle for local prizes. The films will be screened starting at 7:30.
All proceeds from Lunafest will benefit the Breast Cancer Fund and the YWCA of South Hampton Roads. Raffle tickets will be sold during the reception for $1. Tickets for the event are $5 with ODU student ID and $10 for general admission at the Webb Center Information Desk prior to the show, or $15 at the door.
The "$tart $mart" program, an interactive salary negotiation workshop designed to give college women the confidence and skills they need to earn fair compensation, will now take place from noon to 3 p.m. Wednesday, April 9, in the Virginia Beach Room of Webb Center. RSVP to womenctr@odu.edu by April 7.
