Invencia Piano Duo Selected as Winners of 2014 Veer Local Music Award
Old Dominion faculty members Andrey Kasparov and Oksana Lutsyshyn, who together comprise the Invencia Piano Duo, were recognized Monday evening with a Veer Magazine local music award.
A Hampton Roads publication, Veer is a freely distributed magazine that features arts, culture, entertainment, food and drink.
The Invencia Piano Duo was nominated in the "Best Classical" category along with four other groups, including the Norfolk Chamber Consort, which is co-directed by Kasparov and Lutsyshyn and performs at ODU's Chandler Recital Hall.
Award winners were chosen based on votes submitted online by the magazine's readers.
Kasparov said Veer cited the Invencia Piano Duo's "Schmitt - Complete Original Works for Piano Duet and Duo" that was released in October 2012, and features the works of composer Florent Schmitt (1870-1958), and the Norfolk Chamber Consort's "exceptional repertoire from ODU music professors" in making the nominations.
