Around the Grounds: A Photo Essay

While pumpkins rained from the Batten Arts and Letters Building, a surprising number of people got into the Halloween spirit (and costumes) throughout the campus on Thursday. It was also a day when many members of the ODU community took part in the sixth annual Breastival and Fun Walk "to help scare away cancer." Elsewhere, the campus was alive with many other activities and events last week.

Local artist Debbie Hobbs is exhibiting her work through Dec. 31 at the ODU Tri-Cities Center in Portsmouth. More than 65 guests attended the opening reception Oct. 24 to view over 35 pastel works and collages. Hobbs has taught at the Suffolk Museum/Art Gallery for 20 years. The second-floor exhibit is open to the public from 8 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. weekdays and from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday. Photo by Davion Hussen
