ODU Veterans Day Observance Slated for Nov. 7 on Kaufman Mall
Old Dominion will conduct its 2013 Veterans Day observance Thursday, Nov. 7, on Kaufman Mall.
The annual event, which begins at 12:30 p.m., offers an opportunity for the campus community to pay tribute to the thousands of U.S. military veterans who have served their country in combat and peacekeeping functions around the world. Nearly 25 percent of ODU's more than 25,000 students have a direct connection to the military, either by having served themselves or being the parent or child of service members.
Retired U.S. Navy Vice Adm. David Architzel, military affairs director at ODU, will serve as master of ceremonies for the event.
Three students will speak as part of the observance - two veterans and a student with no direct connection to the military - about what Veterans Day means to them. ODU President John. R. Broderick will also speak during the program.
Those who plan to attend are encouraged to RSVP to 683-3116 or www.odu.edu/univevents (event code: VET13).
The rain site is the North Mall of Webb Center.
