Ms. Andrea M. Kilmer was appointed to the Board of Visitors on July 1, 2011. She currently serves as Secretary of the Board, chair of the Academic & Research Advancement Committee, and as a member of the Executive and Student Advancement Committees.

Ms. Kilmer received a B.S. in Business Administration, with a concentration in Accounting, and graduated cum laude from Old Dominion University in 1978. She was certified as a public accountant in Virginia in 1980.

Ms. Kilmer is Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of The ESG Companies in Virginia Beach, Virginia. After practicing in public accounting for over six years with national and regional firms, she has served as a senior executive with extensive experience in all areas of accounting, tax, finance, administration and operations of numerous diverse businesses in Virginia for over 25 years for The ESG Companies, including oversight and management in excess of 1000 employees. She has been actively involved in businesses as diverse as construction, hotels, restaurants, and amusement parks, computer training facilities, automobile dealerships, shopping centers and marinas. In 2009, she was named Small Business CFO of the Year by Virginia Business Magazine. In addition to being a CPA, she is licensed as a real estate broker, mortgage broker property and casualty, life and health insurances, notary public, Class A contractor and a Florida sports manager and is certified in financial forensics by the AICPA and has been designated as an expert witness in Virginia courts.

Ms. Kilmer served on the Virginia Economic Development and Jobs Commission and is currently on the Virginia Board of Accountancy, both gubernatorial appointments. She serves as the Vice Chair and Enforcement Chair of the Virginia Board of Accountancy. She actively and routinely volunteers for numerous charitable organizations in numerous roles including treasurer and director, and was recently one of six individuals in 2010 that was awarded the highest honor that can be given to a Council volunteer by the Tidewater Council of the Boy Scouts of America.
