SUMMER SCHOOL

Summer sessions at Old Dominion University offer more than 1,500 undergraduate and graduate courses to choose from, including a variety of day, evening, weekend and asynchronous courses. Course delivery methods include traditional face-to-face, televised, videostreamed, web-based, CD-ROM and hybrid courses using a combination of these methods. Course locations include the main Norfolk campus, the Virginia Beach, Peninsula, Tri-Cities, and Northern Virginia Higher Education Centers, and numerous sites in Hampton Roads and throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia, as well as several locations outside of Virginia. Not all courses are offered at all locations.

Students who register for summer school classes delivered via technology (videostreamed, internet based, etc.) should be aware of the technology requirements for those classes. Information is available at the Distance Learning web site, or students may contact course instructors.

Attending summer school at Old Dominion University? You should know that...

• Course offerings are available at LEO Online.
• Visiting/transient students must apply for admission as non-degree students before they can register. An online application for admission is provided at the Office of Admissions web site. There is a one-time application fee of $40.
• Tuition, fees and refund policies are posted at the web site of the Office of Finance. 
• In order to qualify for in-state tuition rates, new or readmitted students must apply by completing the Application for In-State Tuition included with the admission application, or by submitting an Application for In-State Tuition Form available from the Registrar's web site.
• Financial aid is not available for non-degree students, except for those in approved teacher licensure or dental assistant certification programs. Consult the Financial Aid web site for complete information. 
• Once admitted, students can use LEO Online to register for classes and retrieve grades.
• Course DROP and ADD DEADLINES vary by summer session. Students who register for summer classes are advised to pay attention to these deadlines. Failure to drop a course before the drop deadline does not excuse students from financial responsibility for any courses for which they have registered. Students who for any reason cannot use LEO Online to drop should submit a Registration Drop/Add/Withdraw Form to the Registrar's Office for processing. 
• Course descriptions are available in the University Catalog. Course syllabi are available from the instructor. 
• Most ODU courses require the activation and use of the Old Dominion University student e-mail address, which is issued free to each ODU student. Instructions for activating the student e-mail account are available at season.odu.edu. 
• To have coursework transferred back to the home institution, request an official transcript after all grades have been loaded.
• Grade forgiveness for Old Dominion students will be applied at the END of the summer session, after all grades have been loaded.
• Services are available during the summer at Student Health Services.
